Natural Homemade Gels

Aloe Vera  Gel:


You will need:

1. Aloe Vera Leaves (3)

2. Vitamin E Oil/Capsule

3. Container


1. Cut aloe leaves in half and scrape contents into container

2. Add a teaspoon of Vitamin E oil or contents of 2 vitamin E capsules to the above

3. Mix together, cover container and refrigerate


Interesting Facts:

Aloe Vera is part of the Lily family and is a natural antibiotic. Your batch of Aloe Vera gel can also be used on sunburns, scrapes, insect bites etc.

Flax seed Gel:


You will need:

1. Pot

2. 2 cups water

3. 1 pack flax seed. I use the 1.5 oz packet

4.Vitamin E oil/capsule

5.Olive Oil or other oil of choice

6. Rosemary leaves



1. Add Flax seed and rosemary leaves to pot of boiling water. About 1 teaspoon of dried rosemary leaves will work.

2. Stir together until water appears sticky and flax seeds start to surface

3. Keep stirring for about 5 minutes maximum

4. Strain into container

5. Add vitamin E oil and other oil of choice (EVOO, Jojoba, sweet almond oil)

6. Cool and refrigerate



Interesting Fact:

Flax seed is a source of linseed oil which is known for its hydrophobic properties and as a result is perfect for use in humid climates or high/low dew points.

Rosemary is known to help improve blood circulation and hence can stimulate the growth process, adds a fragrance to your flax seed gel and can also help with scalp problems such as dandruff.

Gelatin Gel ( For hair that likes protein):


You will need:

1. Box  gelatin (unscented). Important to note, if you are a vegetarian or allergic to pork you can use a plant derived gelatin (agar) sold in vegetarian stores.

2. Container

3. Vitamin E oil/ Capsule

4. Pot



1. Bring 1 cup water to a boil

2. Add gelatin and stir until it dissolves

3. Add Vitamin E oil/ capsule

4. Mix and place in container

5. Refrigerate

Note: This gel only lasts for about a week as opposed to my flax seed and Aloe Vera gel that lasted for about 3 weeks.

The Vitamin E oil is added to preserve the shelf-life of your gel.
